So far so goodOct 23, 2009 I'm not finished reading the book nor have I read another style manual to compare it to but so far so good. I bought it to get a broader knowledge of style and what works for my body type. It's an easy read and a lot of pictures. I recommend it...enjoy. -R.
Good style info for all menOct 08, 2009 This book has turned out to have a lot of good information on clothing and accessories for all men. I would say that it is at least geared from basic casual all the way to tuxedo formals. The individual chapters cover different items of clothing: shirts, outerwear, underwear, shoes, etc. While there are some elements of seeming trendiness sprinkled throughout the advice, I do not think they detract from the overall effect. They even provide examples of clothing trends gone wrong, to stay away from, which is nice. They do not recommend any specific brands either, which is really great unbiased advice. They merely provide advice on cuts, materials, colors, fits...the mechanics of the clothes. I have some moderate experience with clothes styling and wardrobe, and I still took away some good advice from this book. The ample pictures showing different combinations and succinct descriptions were just right and well organized. Certainly recommended for those wanting to look good; without being ostentatious.
Great Book for beginnersOct 06, 2009 I'm a newbie to fashion. It just was never my thing. Never cared to pay attention to it. Now that I'm single, I have to start looking good for the ladys. This book helped me get started in the right direction. I highly recommend to beginners.
Great, but could use more tips on affordabilitySep 09, 2009 The guys at details obviously know what they're doing. And this can be a go-to resource for the younger fellas out there making the transition from looking like a grown up kid, to looking like a grown up.
One issue I've always had with these kinds of books is that they really can't help with saving money. Seems like anything under $[...] is a cheap suit. And that's not the way it should be. Give [...] a try for those issues.
Fashionable groundworkSep 07, 2009 If you're looking for a solid foundation on which to build your wardrobe, this book will cover your bases. Providing illustrated coverage of everything from your underwear to your overcoat, this book helps to really get a grasp on what you should be buying and what you shouldn't. If you're only going to buy one book on men's fashion, get this one.
