 Great Book!Nov 07, 2009
I love Cooks Illustrated, Cook's County, and own several of the hardbound cookbooks...
When I went back to work full time this Fall it was increasingly hard to put together a good meal for my family because they were used to the standards from when I had much more kitchen time!
This book was the perfect solution!
I have made many of the recipes already and find them up to par with the regular series, just faster and sometimes with much less prep time. I save my other books and the magazines for the weekends now, and use this book almost every single weeknight.
We find that the dinners are still delicious and I didn't have to lower our culinary standards a bit!
 Very good cookbook, some less common ingredients & brandsOct 17, 2009
This is a great cookbook. One pleasant surprise was the way they compare and recommend food brands, like a food version of consumer reports. They also gives tips and techniques that help speed things up. The recipes are clear and can truly be prepared in 30 minutes. So far, they've all been very tasty. My only complaint is that the recipes don't use common ingredients, and some of the brands they recommend are not available at my grocery. It's frustrating when they instruct you to use a certain brand of free-range organic chicken broth. I was also expecting some desserts but none are included.

I hardly ever buy cookbooks, but my sister bought this one and recommended it to me. I have already made 5 or 6 recipes, and I was impressed with all of them. The recipes are easy to follow and make suggestions for saving time. Worth the purchase!

This is my favorite cook book. I've never had such a useful cooking guide. Choose your food, and quickly learn the very best way to prepare it, then the best way to prepare it quickly. Educational and easy to use.

We are so glad we made this purchase...have not found one recipe we didn't like!
Instrucutions are easy to follow, and I thoroughly enjoy the anecdotal info on each page. My wife really appreciates all the photos too..
